Barry Trotter, once the glittering star of 1980s children's TV, is now a washed-up 74-year-old performer struggling to stay afloat. With his glory days long behind him, Barry scrapes by entertaining unimpressed audiences at dingy social clubs, while sharing a cramped bedsit with his elderly mother. Barry's troubles go deeper than bad gigs and fading fame—he’s drowning in gambling debt. His tormentor? Roger Kittyfeathers, a smug businessman-turned-loan shark with a grudge. Turns out Roger was humiliated live on Barry's show as a child, and he’s been nursing his vendetta ever since. Now, Roger’s got Barry on the ropes, demanding £5000 in a week or the bedsit goes. Desperate and out of options, Barry enters Celebrity Deal or No Deal.
