Today we have a really special show with two good friends and outstanding coaches Jim Waldron and Justin Tang We had a wonderful conversation about the current CULTURE of golf instruction and what it is ACTUALLY doing for our game. The resulting conversation was outstanding: What are the BELIEFS that need to be challenged to move forward ? The mistake we make in thinking that movement can be changed easily The commitment and dedication required A ‘path of mastery’ approach The language of ‘easy and simple’ and why that is so limiting to make changes The over technical approach and why it holds so many people back Are we teaching the swing or the individual? Everyone has a different NEUTRAL Are you a ‘Body Only’ coach? The myth of Mind Body dualism The ‘Mind Body’ connection and why it is so important The skill of focused ATTENTION The role of EMOTIONS The role of the mind body connection in MARTIAL ARTS The role of economics in traditional coaches – The wealth – power imbalance What is the future for GREAT coaching? It was a tournament like no other with incredible drama that put is all through a rollercoaster of emotions as Rory secured the Green Jacket and became a member of that most exclusive club of golf’s Grand Slam winners. Yet in the euphoria of the win and the endless post tournament analysis did we all miss something in terms of Rory’s response to the win on the final green? Top coach and good friend of the show Garret Kramer thinks so In this fascinating conversation we go a good bit deeper than what may or may not have been happening on the surface Among many other things we discuss: What was REALLY going on in that last round at Augusta? What can we all learn from Rory’s experience? The reaction to the winning putt The outpouring of relief as opposed to joy The nature of SEEKING and what it does to performance Seeking identity and worthiness through objects in the materialistic world When we stop seeking we experience relief The seemingly impossible variation in the shots Rory played in the final round The nature of LETTING GO How letting go affects our physical movement The ‘veiling of consciousness’ when we seek outside validation Why the ‘pot of gold’ isn’t worth as much as we think it is Finding out what is truly important to us To find out more about Garret Kramer go to https://www.garretkramer.com/ To Join Marcus Bell and Karl Morris for two wonderful days at West Herts Golf Club for the GRF schools June 12th and 13th Take action and click on this link https://bg6ot.r.sp1-brevo.net/mk/cl/f/sh/SMK1E8tHeG13EwyIU7dDcOCotXBW/o_3ucfYmTEr7 To get on board with the Mind Caddie and join us on the journey go to https://www.mindcaddie.golf/ OFFICIAL BRAND AMBASSADOR : Fenix Apparel and Accessories Co. Today on the show we have former PGA Tour player Gary Christian who has had a remarkable career as a player, broadcaster and now author of a wonderful book called ‘Beat the golf course not yourself’ During out time together Gary went into some phenomenal detail about how his career as a player turned around when he seriously began to work on and explore the mental game It is inspirational how he explored for him key areas such as visualisation and how this gave him the capacity to get the very best out of his obvious talent The conversation very much looks at how when you have developed some skills how you can then access those skills on the course itself As a result of working on his mental game Gary became one of the oldest rookies in PGA Tour history Truly inspirational for us all As Gary says most golfers do not have the time to make major swing changes but they COULD explore the mental game to get the very best from their experience Enjoy the show. Why pain is actually in the BRAIN and how we LEARN to be anxious Today on the Mind Caddie we have a really distinguished guest in the shape of Dr Howard Schubiner He is an internist and the director of the Mind Body Medicine Center at Ascension Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan. Dr. Schubiner is a Clinical Professor at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and is a fellow in the American College of Physicians, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has authored more than 100 publications in scientific journals and books, and lectures regionally, nationally, and internationally and has consulted for the American Medical Association, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and the National Institute on Mental Health. Dr. Schubiner is the author of three books: Unlearn Your Pain, Unlearn Your Anxiety and Depression, and Hidden From View Why your brain predicts what it needs to do to PROTECT you ALWAYS When you touch a hot stove it is not your finger causing the pain it is your BRAIN What happens when your brain goes into DANGER MODE The triple three that keep the problem in place Focus Fear Fixing The body always heals but our brain can keep producing pain How anxiety can be a learned response to a PERCEIVED danger Why we need to ‘TALK’ to our brain to reduce the perception of threat Change the perception of the threat and we change our response to the threat. On today’s show we have a special coach in the shape of Denmark’s Andreas Kali who has overseen the development of numerous top players in Denmark. Due to his incredible results with so many players he has become one of the hottest coaches in golf We had a really wonderful conversation about the philosophy behind the success he has been getting in Denmark In particular about the development of the players a people not just golfers The need to create an environment of fun and learning in practice. Not just fun in the conventional sense but the fun of being REALLY engaged in the training you are doing Andreas talked about some of the setback he encountered as a player and how he wants to help his own players short circuit that learning He talked about the THREE CORE elements that drive all of his lessons and the training environments Does this get the ball CLOSER to the target Does this PREVENT injury Does this enhance the LOVE of the game If your coaching is not addressing those needs then is it REALLY making a difference? We talked about LOW POINT in the swing and how this simple focus of attention can make such a huge difference to most golfers enjoyment of the game but also their performance Keeping players in the game for longer Not everyone is going to be a champion but can we keep players engaged in a way that doesn’t threaten their identity as a human being You will find this conversation fascinating and you will begin to see why Andreas has been so incredibly successful with so many young players To find out more about Andreas Kali go to https://andreaskaligolf.com/ To start your FREE Mind Caddie 7 day trial go to https://www.mindcaddie.golf/ To book your Mind Caddie workshop at your club go to www.themindfactor.com To book your place on the ‘Lost Art of Golf’ school get in touch at www.themindfactor.com OFFICIAL BRAND AMBASSADOR : Fenix Apparel and Accessories Co. What will ACTUALLY make a difference to your golf and life Today on the Mind Caddie we welcome back my good friend and colleague Jim Waldron. This is a recording of a live presentation Jim gave to the Mind Factor coaches Jim is an outstanding coach with an absolute wealth of experience. This seminar is for the really dedicated coach or player. There are some challenging concepts in here that have the potential to make a really BIG difference to your game and indeed your life. In the session we talked about: The dangers of spending TOO much time in your own internal world. Becoming too absorbed in your own thoughts. The opportunity in golf to develop the skills of going EXTERNAL. In between shots having the capability to go to your SENSORY experience. What can you SEE, HEAR or FEEL? Having the DISTINCTION between the TWO WORLDS of INTERNAL and EXTERNAL What focused attention actually is The absolute ‘rules of the road’ with swing changes The need for slow motion swings and FEELING the extremes either side of correct Why information alone will never create swing changes What is the correct ‘dose’ of practice Making the movement patterns UNCONSCIOUS The difference between working on the swing and PERFORMING the swing on the course The need to develop a FOCAL POINT on the course Developing a ‘basket’ of focal points to take out onto the course Developing the ‘Let’s SEE what HAPPENS’ mindset What is the essential nature of the unconscious mind? The ‘watchdog’ of the unconscious mind. Why the unconscious mind often ‘believes’ a yip is actually helping The opportunity to ‘sit’ in the presence of a great coach interacting with other coaches and developing so many key concepts and ideas To find out more about Jim Waldron and his great work go to https://balancepointgolf.com/ To start your FREE Mind Caddie 7 day trial go to https://www.mindcaddie.golf/ To book your Mind Caddie workshop at your club go to www.themindfactor.com To book your place on the ‘Lost Art of Golf’ school get in touch at www.themindfactor.com OFFICIAL BRAND AMBASSADOR : Fenix Apparel and Accessories Co.
