In tonight's Very fun-filled Episode, Project Serpo was a real top-secret government program that sent 12 astronauts to the Zeta Reticuli star system in 1965. The astronauts spent 13 years on the planet Serpo, where they interacted with the alien inhabitants and gained extensive knowledge about their culture and technology.

Project Serpo has inspired various books, documentaries, and discussions. Interestingly, Steven Spielberg’s movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” drew inspiration from the UFO classification system developed by astronomer J. Allen Hynek, who was also involved in UFO research and had a cameo in the film.
