Episode 69 - Tom Gerrard on the learning mindset
April 20, 2024 · 89 min

In this longer episode, I interview Tom Gerrard. Tom is a long-time scout leader and has turned his passion for the outdoors from a hobby into a business and trained both as an outdoor instructor and forest school practitioner. Alongside his day job as an engineer, he also runs a workshop creating outdoor objects and restoring old tools and equipment. We discuss generational scouting families, guiding vs leading during sessions, perspectives on risk management, pattern recognition in bushcraft and how to never stop learning as an outdoor leader.
