Unrealistic and unmet expectations can take a real toll on the state of our souls and our relationships, including our relationship with God.
Today, I’ve invited Wes to share some thoughts on having a biblical perspective when it comes to expectations of ourselves, others, and God.

In a world increasingly dependent upon screens and technology, it's as crucial as it is countercultural to help kids capture the natural joys and treasures each day holds. As we do this, we as adults are also reminded of what a great God we serve and the hope we have in Him!
This podcast is full of encouragement and ideas as we discuss the importance of encouraging wonder and curiosity in our kids and how to do that in simple and practical ways that don't require a lot of preparation!

In a world that prizes hustle and constant productivity, breaking the habit of hurry can seem far-fetched. Yet we still try to achieve it with life hacks to get more sleep and increase energy. However, self-help strategies are not the solution to our exhaustion problem.
Today, Eryn Lynum joins me to talk about what it looks like to move away from the hurry and toward the rest that God has for us.
This episode will be balm for your soul!

Most of us have at least some fear of death. Our culture is obsessed with it but without a remedy. However, it's a completely different story for Believers!
Pastor Wes reminded me recently that Jesus has authority over sin and death and death is our servant because we belong to Jesus. One of my listeners heard me talk about this and asked if I would have Wes on the podcast to dive deeper into this topic. I'm delighted that he agreed to do that and he's here today to help us reframe our experiences according to God's word and align our thinking about death with what Christ has transformed it into.

Scriptures mentioned:
1 Corinthians 3:21-23
Romans 8:38-39
Quote read in this episode:
“ I think I find most help in trying to look on all the interruptions and hindrances to work that one has planned out for oneself as discipline, trials sent by God to help one against getting selfish over one’s work. Then one can feel that perhaps one’s true work—one’s work for God—consists in doing some trifling haphazard thing that has been thrown into one’s day. It is not a waste of time, as one is tempted to think, it is the most important part of the work of the day—the part one can best offer to God. After such a hindrance, do not rush after the planned work; trust that the time to finish it will be given sometime, and keep a quiet heart about it.” (Annie Keary, 1825-1879)
Many of us are in the midst of trials and afflictions and with that comes 2 common struggles: Not feeling loved by God and Losing Our Sense of Purpose.
In today's episode, I share some things the Lord has encouraged me with in the midst of my own trials.

Great is Thy Faithfulness
Great is thy faithfulness, O God, my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with thee.
Thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
As thou hast been, thou forever wilt be.
Great is thy faithfulness,
Great is thy faithfulness,
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed thy hand hast provided;
Great is thy faithfulness,
Lord unto me.
Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine and ten thousand beside.
Ecc. 9:7
Romans 8:35,37-39
He Giveth More Grace
Listen Here
1. He giveth more grace as our burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength as our labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials He multiplies peace.
2. When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
3. Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.
4. His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.
When stressed, fearful, or anxious, we can feel claustrophobic, like we are in a small, constricted space. God tells us in His Word that HE moves us to a large, spacious place where we can breathe and stand firm against the enemy.
Today I'm sharing more of my journey and the ways that God has met me in the unknown.

The holidays leave lasting memories, and we hope that as parents, we are creating great memories for our kids to look back on for the rest of their lives. So what will our kids actually remember?
Today my daughter-in-law, Julia, will be talking to my second child, Jenna, about what Christmas memories and traditions have stayed with her into adulthood.
