In this episode of Author to Author, Dr. Cynthia Toolin-Wilson interviews Ivan Arthur on his book The Guilty: A Man is Stabbed to Death and a Community Examines its ConscienceThis book revolves round a fatal stabbing but is not about the three dagger thrusts that killed a man. It is a whodunnit of another kind–a social and psychological sleuthing that may well take our readers to the confessional. An introspective reading into the makings of personal and collective guilt, The Guilty is a metaphor concerning our voluntary mutism in the face of injustice, our silence as an unspoken lie. https://enroutebooksandmedia.com/theguilty/

In this episode of Author to Author, Dr. Cynthia Toolin-Wilson interviews David Dowd and Dr. Ronda Chervin on David's new book with commentary by Ronda Chervin: Sad Songs: A View from the Front Lines of the Spiritual Battle between the Culture of Death and the Culture of Life— A Sidewalk Advocate’s JournalWorking as a Volunteer Pro Life Sidewalk Advocate, the author recorded this series of reports. They were recently written over a period of six months during which he and others were praying and counseling as Sidewalk Advocates to women who entered an abortion clinic. As you read this collection of sad stories, the denial, hardship, struggles and desperation of some 20-30 women a day, 3 days a week might begin to register. These are not the stories that you hear or read from abortion advocates. The chapters of this book are based on observations, quotes, conversations, estimates and, yes, some speculations by the author as to what happens on the sidewalk. The killing of babies by surgical and chemical means in our country is an ongoing NATIONAL DRAMA. Clearly, the abortion clinics are the Front Lines of an invisible Spiritual Battle, waged where the worldly Culture of Death collides with an undermanned, under-financed, misunderstood yet hopeful band of volunteer sisters and brothers, representing the Culture of Life, provides resistance against the imminent death of unborn children in the womb of their mothers–resistance to that March of Bloody Death every day a woman transacts a business decision with an abortion clinic. It’s a sad, sad song that must be heard. We must look at the world as the world truly is before we look to God for the solace of our troubles.Sad Songs: A View from the Front Lines of the Spiritual Battle between the Culture of Death and the Culture of Life–A Sidewalk Advocate’s Journal | En Route Books and Media

In this episode of Author to Author, Dr. Cynthia Toolin-Wilson interviews Roger Skrenes on his book History of the Eucharist (July 18, 2023)The Eucharist is not a topic of the moment. Like any good teacher, God took “his time” in revealing the Eucharist slowly, step by step, throughout Biblical history. In this history there are two main tracks: 1) the history of bread and its use in the Old Testament and 2) the sacrificial lamb of the Old Testament Passover. These two tracks point to the Last Supper and the Cross. The story of the Lamb, of course, continues with the Resurrection and Eternal Life. This book tells this story.History of the Eucharist | En Route Books and Media

In this episode of Author to Author, Dr. Cynthia Toolin-Wilson interviews Fr. Julius D. Leloczky, O.Cist., on his book "That They May Have Life” (John 10:10): 35 Meditations (July 14, 2023)This collection of meditations is a rich anthology of writings very much in the spirit and vein of the documents of the Second Vatican Council, and of the ideas represented by the discourses of Popes St. John Paul II and Benedict XVI. The variety of essays crystallizes the thoughts of a Cistercian priest and monk through sixty years of his pastoral service. The assortment of articles combines reflections on a variety of liturgical feasts and different aspects of spiritual life like faith, humility, prayer, judging others, and death. Running throughout is the mystery of sharing in the divine life by Christians, best expressed by the Johannine term, life or eternal life. The overarching tone of this slender volume is optimistic, its pages brimming with a spirit of hope and serenity.“That They May Have Life” (John 10:10): 35 Meditations | En Route Books and Media
In this episode of Author to Author, Dr. Cynthia Toolin-Wilson interviews Fr. Bevil Bramwell, OMI, on his book Handbook for Catholic Religious (July 13, 2023)Reflecting on the theology of the presence of Christ in the world, particularly from the point of view of the aesthetics of religious life, Fr. Bramwell explains that a particular problem for Religious in the 21st century is that they are trying to pray, live and work in a age that is antagonistic to such a life. If religious life is ever separated from its relation to and expression of the life of Christ, then it is no longer religious life as the Church understands it. For this reason, Fr. Bramwell gets to grips across the pages of this book with the existential challenges that face serious Religious every day.https://enroutebooksandmedia.com/catholicreligious/

One is never a missionary for himself or because of himself. A true missionary is one called by God, formed by God, sent by God to do a work of God for God – a missionary only needs to be surrendered and docile before the Word of God. Consumed by Love provides just such a handbook for the one who is called and is wondering what next.Consumed by Love: A Missionary Handbook for Priestly and Lay Formation by Mary Kloska | En Route Books and Media
