This is a serious problem for anyone who wants to use the Z8 to record professional quality video. Nikon’s marketing for the Z8 really sells the video potential of the camera but Nikon needs to address this critical flaw right away. Fix it. I think much of the recent turmoil in the US political system and the re-election of Trump is a result of the collapse of Hollywood and its myth building and storytelling capacity. Hollywood was a factory that inspired patriotism with national stories and symbols. It projected the appearance of US dominance to the world. It was cultural industry that plastered American flags throughout, even though many of the movies were actually filmed in Canada. Canada needs to use our own truly excellent national symbols and capacity to enhance our culture and unite us as a country. Canada must start investing in our art and culture to grow national pride. Can't sleep? It's politics. I don't want to talk about politics on this podcast but here I am at 3am, high on edibles that were supposed to help me sleep. The US election? Trudeau accusing the government of India of murdering Canadians on Canadian soil? Do we believe him or not? Canadian media has now become 'state media' because what remains of MSM in Canada is government funded. Who should we trust now for our news in Canada?The war in the middle east seems to be spiraling out of control. News will come to you, eventually, on whatever device you use. How do you deal with it? I seek it out from different sources for news, now primarily non-Canadian. I have a basket of news sources I use to develop a world view. You might think it veers left or right, depending. Make your own! But make sure your sources are truly mixed for the broadest but deepest multifaceted view of the world. Also, avoid marmot videos on Reels or TkTok. It's a trap. They are not showing you the dark side: the marmot bites that will require hundreds of thousands of dollars in remedial cosmetic surgery. This episode is all over the place. It's hard to make art when the world seems like it is going to blow up, isn't it? We'll be back with a better planned episode next week :) Notes!
