Thank you for joining me as we learn about the connection between Passover, First Fruits, Shavuot (pronounced shav-oo-oat) and Pentecost. As part of understanding and observing the festivals that God has appointed for us to observe, we count the Omer (pronounced oh-mare) today and then have our daily Bible reading session! Here is the link for a downloadable devotional if you would like to count the Omer for yourself. It has been put out by the Messianic Jewish Congregation Shoresh David in Florida: https://www.shoreshdavid.org/download/counting-the-omer-booklet/Today's reading covers 2 Kings Chapter 10-11 and 2 Chronicles 22:7-12. Today we have an incredible update on God returning my necklace to me! Praise God! Thank you, Lord! Baruch HaShem, Blessed be God! Today's reading will continue with Jehu carrying out God's judgment on the family of Ahab for all the murders of prophets Jezebel committed during King Ahab's reign and for the death of Naboth so that King Ahab could take his field. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about the importance of letting God be the one to carry out revenge for the things people do to us and for the hurt they cause us. We will read Romans Chapter 12:14-21, where Paul writes in verse 19: "Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leae room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay, says the LORD." Deuteronomy 32:35. Instead, Paul writes, we are to repay evil with kindness, feeding our enemy if he is hungry, giving him water if he is thirsty, and thereby heap burning coals on his head. We are encouraged not to be overcome by evil, but to overcome evil with good.If you would like to join me LIVE for the daily reading you can register to attend on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/scheduleRegistration for the live event is a tiered pricing event, so you are not required to pay to attend, only if you feel led. Today we will read about Elisha naming Hazael as the next king of Aram and Jehu as the next king of Israel. We will read about God's divine judgment taking place that he foretold concerning King Ahab, Jezebel, and Ahab's family. In our discussion for daily application today we will discuss the importance of having faith in God's perfect, divine timing and having patience to wait for Him to fulfil His divine plan. We may not know WHEN God will do something that we have prayed for, but we can trust that God, in all His loving kindness, will carry out His plan that includes working good into everything, even if we cannot see it or know when He will do it. Today we will also read Deuteronomy Chapter 58 50:-57, as a prelude to our reading, to understand why today's events were happening in Israel. We will read about terrible atrocities being committed in Israel- people were eating their children while under siege and unable to receive food. And yet, we will see that this is EXACTLY what God said would happen to His people when they failed to obey his commands. In our discussion for daily application today we will talk about the fact that God disciplines those He loves, which includes not just Israel, but US. And Jesus taught us that even those branches which bear fruit, God will prune those branches so that they grow even MORE fruit! The purpose of discipline and pruning is to draw us closer to God and help us to bear fruit. Let us be encouraged and reassured today as we go through events in our life, whether we experience discipline or pruning, God's purposes are for GOOD and He WILL work everything to good, according to His purpose. Today we will read about the restoration of the land to the woman who had shown Elisha hospitality in Shunam, in Israel, as well as the payment of all the revenue of the land since she had left. We will also read about an army caption of Aram, Naaman, having leprosy and being advised by his servant girl from Israel to go see Elisha in order to be healed. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about how God uses everything for good, even leprosy, and uses seemingly impossible circumstances in our life to draw us to Him. We need only to seek God and have faith in God. God promises that when we seek Him we will find Him! We will be encouraged today to seek God in EVERYTHING we experience in life, no matter how small or big, because God wants us to come to Him and rely on Him for everything. He loves us so much that he deliberately gives us circumstances in life so that we are drawn to Him! It has been put out by the Messianic Jewish Congregation Shoresh David in Florida: https://www.shoreshdavid.org/download/counting-the-omer-booklet/Today's reading comes to us from 2 chronicles Chapter 21, 2 Kings Chapter 6: 8-23, and the Book of Obadiah. We will read about King Jehoram, King Jehoshaphat's son, who comes after Jehoshaphat as the next king of Judah. We will read that he marries the daughter of King Ahab of Israel and therefore leads Judah astray and is a bad king in Judah. We will read about God's judgment on him, that his insides will fall out, as a result of his bad behavior. In our discussion for daily application we will talk about the importance of being careful of the relationships we form, whether in friendship or in marriage, because we don't know just how far reaching the consequences of those relationships can reach, whether good or bad! God takes leading others astray very seriously. Jesus taught that it would be better for a millstone to be tied around someone's neck and drowned than for us to lead even ONE person astray! Kings of Judah and Israel were held responsible repeatedly for leading God's people astray. Jesus spoke about the fact that we will be known by our fruit. We cannot produce good fruit if we are not mindful of protecting our minds from sinful thoughts and behaviors, and we can be led astray by listening to or watching people we form relationships with, as we have seen multiple times in our reading. So let us be mindful of the relationships we form with people so we can be careful of not being led astray or of leading others astray from God.If you would like to join me LIVE for the daily reading you can register to attend on my site, here: https://www.inthefamilywaycoaching.com/scheduleRegistration for the live event is a tiered pricing event, so you are not required to pay to attend, only if you feel led. We will read some more amazing things God did through the prophet Elisha. In our discussion we will read a little deeper, using the big Bible, to understand exactly what all was going on during the events we read about today. For our daily application we will talk about several important things: we need to obey when God gives us a task to do, such as when he told the 3 kings that they would not only win against the Moab king but they were to also stop up springs of water, fill the fields with rocks, and cut down all their trees, which they did. We will talk about how God uses people to accomplish His plans and meets us where we are, such as king Joram, who still did evil in God's sight, but he cut down the pillar to Baal. We will discuss the parallel between what God has been teaching us recently and my lost necklace, using the Rabbi to reference and parallel the very event we just read about TODAY, the floating axe head, when I told him about my lost necklace and my faith that God was going to return it. Lastly, we will talk about how we can have faith in God to bring EVERYTHING to Him, whatever it is, because God is SOOO faithful to us and wants us to rely on Him! Today we will read about King Ahaziah of Israel getting hurt and sending his men to ask the idol Baal if he would get well. God's Angel spoke to Elijah and told him that the king would die as a result of his disobedience. We will see the king become angry with this news and send an army captain with 50 men three times to bring Elijah to him. The men were disrespectful twice and God sent fire to consume those men. Then we will read about the third army captain who was respectful of Elijah and asked him to come, being merciful to him and his men. God's angel then told Elijah not to be afraid, but to go ahead and go with that captain. In our daily application we will discuss the importance of speaking respectfully to people, whether we are having a conflict with them or especially when it comes to trying to bring people to the Lord. No one will respond favorably if we just yell at them and tell them they are wrong. We are called to be ministers of reconciliation. Today I share how God has been teaching me this lesson in my own life and I will encourage you to see God teach you this lesson in your life, as well. It has been put out by the Messianic Jewish Congregation Shoresh David in Florida: https://www.shoreshdavid.org/download/counting-the-omer-booklet/Today's reading covers 2 Chronicles Chapters 19 and 20. We will read about King Jehoshaphat returning home to Judah after fighting a joint battle with King Ahab of Israel to attempt to reclaim the city of Ramoth from the king of Aram. Upon his return to Judah he will be met with admonishment from Jehu, the prophet, who told King Jehoshaphat he should not be making deals with or working with Israel, who is not obeying or loving God. We will see Jehoshaphat seeking God when Judah is threatened by a large enemy force and God winning the battle for His people. In our discussion today we will talk about the mathematical Order of Operations and see how it directly relates to our spiritual life. Much like a young child, we often want to do everything ourselves, saying, "I do! I do!" when we should really be asking God for his direction, first. In the same way that we can sometimes look at a math problem by seeing the answer and then working backward to figure out how to get the right answer, we need to look at today's reading and see that the "answer" is winning the battle and the proper order of operations is to first, ask God for His direction, second, obey, and this equals winning the battle! We need to remember not to try to do even "little" things by ourselves without consulting God, because this is not the proper order of operations for life! We need to remember that if it is God's will, we will be successful and if it is NOT God's will, we will fail, much the same way that King Jehoshaphat made ANOTHER deal with Israel to build ships with them, and God destroyed them because He had already told King Jehoshaphat NOT to deal directly with Israel! It has been put out by the Messianic Jewish Congregation Shoresh David in Florida: https://www.shoreshdavid.org/download/counting-the-omer-booklet/ Today's reading covers 1 Kings Chapter 22. Today we will see God's fulfillment of the death of King Ahab because of his failure to follow God and his disobedience to God's commands. In our discussion for daily application today we will talk about disobedience in our own lives and how we need to learn from the examples of constant disobedience to God by Israel's kings. We will talk about being transformed by the renewing of our minds, focusing today on obeying Jesus. Jesus taught us that if we love Him we will obey His commands. His command, specifically, is to LOVE one another, so today let us remember to obey Jesus and God by focusing on speaking in love by practicing the exercise of "warm fuzzies" rather than "roasting" or speaking poorly of one another. Since we are taught that all sin starts in the mind, let us be mindful of thinking well of one another and specifically working toward SPEAKING well to one another today.
