70% of Americans say they want to be self-employed. Only 6% actually are.So what’s stopping the rest?In this video, I break down why most people never take the leap—and what separates the 6% who do from the 94% who never will. It’s not about being lucky, taking big risks, or working harder than everyone else. It’s a lot about what you’re willing to endure. The failures. The embarrassment. The I don’t know. The slow start. The keep going. The long game.I’ve lived this. I’ve failed more than once. And I’ve learned one key thing: Stop taking advice from people who’ve never done it. In this case. If you feel called to work for yourself—this is your wake-up call.

QUIT
You’re not a failure for quitting a dream that no longer fits.In this episode, we talk about one of the hardest but most freeing things you can do: letting go of who you thought you’d be—so you can become who you’re meant to be.I’m not saying quit if it’s still your dream. I’m saying quit if it isn’t anymore.Sometimes, we cling to old goals because they feel safe, or because we’re afraid to admit we’ve changed. But holding onto the wrong dream can distract you from where God is actually trying to take you.If you feel stuck… this might be the moment that sets you free.Subscribe for more real, raw conversations on faith, life, and purpose.Watch the video podcast on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@DanKathmanLearn more or work with me: https://www.dankathmanstudios.com#faith #goals #purpose #growth #lettinggo #lifeadvice

Stop Overthinking

Work on your own time. Beginner or Expert. It works! Do it strategically as an expert. Get in doors you never could before. Give value up-front. Build the portfolio, build the content, build the connections and relationships and build the business of your dreams.
This is a big one. I need this advice constantly. Have a plan, but know that you'll never know everything, ever, and you'll need to just start before you're ready. You'll never be fully ready. As you go, continue to learn, adjust, and plan while you're continually take action. This is the fastest way there. You'll learn way more from making videos than reading about making videos. I’ve dealt with creative block more times than I can count, and you know what? Most of the time, it wasn’t real. It was me overthinking, trapped in my own head, paralyzed by fear, or simply not making the time to show up and do the work. Here are the 3 steps that changed everything for me: 1. Get Out of Your Own Head – Stop overthinking and overanalyzing. 2. Realize It’s Just Fear – Fear is the culprit keeping you stuck, but it doesn’t have to win. 3. Schedule Your Creativity – Treat your creative work like a professional. Sit down, block out distractions, and just start. If you stick to this for even one week—really commit—you’ll see the block start to disappear. And if you can dedicate 4 solid hours to your craft, the results can show up the same day. Imagine where you’ll be if you make creativity a daily habit: a month, six months, a year, or even a decade from now. Your life will never be the same. Don’t wait around for inspiration or motivation to magically strike. Discipline yourself to show up, and somehow, creativity will meet you there every time. Hope this helps—let me know your thoughts!
