“If they’re not fat, they’re soft…” Think back to The Sunset Strip and the emerging metal scene of the early 80’s, full of sleaze, shred, and riffs, long before the emergence of the “serious glam” and “serious thrash” of the mid to late 80’s. METAL HEALTH and OUT OF THE CELLAR, released in 1983 and 1984, by QUIET RIOT and RATT (respectively) both preceded the hair metal movement of the late 80’s and ironically (to a great extent) helped to define it.    While both METAL HEALTH and OUT OF THE CELLAR were “more metal than we thought”, each album has its share of pros and cons, with some tracks drowning in 80’s nostalgia that sound a bit dated by today’s standards, and others possessing a far more timeless heavy metal quality that still holds up and sounds awesome even today.    It’s time to “purse the lips up a little bit” and grab the attention of those who smell like “Aqua Net and Marlboros” that are wearing the “bustiers and leopard skin spandex” who just want to “use the bathroom”.   Discover the shared traits which “vegans and wizards” have in common, find out why squirrels are “deadass” the dumbest creatures on earth and why some birds are “a little bit touched”, go ahead and submit your early enrollment for “Juilliard Speech School” and get ready to do some “edging” to try and replicate “the weird feeling” you had when you were 10 when you JOIN US for the SUNSET STRIP EDITION  of our HEAD-TO-HEAD DEATHMATCH featuring 2 of the greatest debut albums in the history of early 80’s metal, METAL HEALTH by QUIET RIOT and OUT OF THE CELLAR by RATT.   Visit www.metalnerdery.com/podcast for more on this episode Help Support Metal Nerdery https://www.patreon.com/metalnerderypodcast Leave us a Voicemail to be played on a future episode: 980-666-8182 Metal Nerdery Tees and Hoodies – metalnerdery.com/merch and kindly leave us a review and/or rating on your favorite Podcast app Follow us on the Socials: Facebook - Instagram - TikTok Email: metalnerdery@gmail.com Can’t be LOUD Enough Playlist on Spotify Metal Nerdery Munchies on YouTube @metalnerderypodcast Show Notes: (00:01): “He became a recluse…” / “Have you ever seen a fat vegan…ever?” / “If they’re not fat, they’re soft.” / ***WARNING: #listenerdiscretionisadvised *** / “I was influenced to do that…squigglies and boobs…”/ #downstairssquiggly / ***WELCOME BACK TO THE METAL NERDERY PODCAST!!!*** / #thisepisodesbeeroftheepisode / “I am worried…I’m worried, dude…”/ #NewHaze #MasonAleWorks #ZombieWars #ninepointfiveABV / “Lime green…shag…on the walls, on the floor…that’s new corporate condo carpet…this is NOT #daydrinking…”    (05:25): “I feel terrible…” / #RussellsReflections / “It was a squirrel…I went out of my way…”/ #deadass / “Every squirrel looks EXACTLY the same…”/ #squirreldrones / “If the earth is flat, why can’t we see #Everest?” / “It’s like we’re standing on a great big deck…”/ #overlymuch / “Without women, we wouldn’t have…”/ “But also…”/ “Not to one up your story…I didn’t do it on purpose, but it came from nowhere…”/ “Here’s a weird ghost question…did I tell you guys about the time I heard 1 bird chirping at 1 a.m.?” / #touched #specialneedsbird / #JuilliardSpeechSchool    (14:14): PATREON SHOUT OUT!!! Send us a textHi everybody and welcome to the last episode of this Attendance Bias mini-series, in which we previewed each venue Phish will play during their upcoming summer 2025 tour: We just took a look at a new venue to the Phish world: Forest Hills Stadium. Today, we turn our attention to an old favorite; a venue that has been a part of the Phish conversation longer than some fans have been alive, literally.Today, I am joined by family: My sister in law, Liz Ratto, who coincidentally is not only a Phish fan who has been to SPAC several times, but is also a resident of Saratoga Springs! When planning out this series, I was a little nervous about this episode, because Phish has been playing this venue for so long, who knows what new information we could provide? But the answer is: a lot! Liz gives some great pro tips for not only attending the show, but things to do around Saratoga while you’re in town for these three nights that close the tour: July 25, 26, and 27.Phish has a long history at SPAC, but an even longer history in Saratoga. But lets hear it from the locals. Join me and Liz to hear how to make the best of Phish’s final run of tour in Saratoga

Brush off those winter chills because those little rays of sunshine, happiness and fluffy white clouds in a blue sky return. Stephen J Peak, Mark Fine and Kevin Hillier - the demisters of life - defog the misty fields of footy, darts, baking, horse racing, golf, brain surgery and cricket but never rocket science (Ts & Cs and common sense apply). Their finely tuned and often whacked earholes scour the catalogue of Beach Boys classics to pay homage to the late Brian Wilson. Warning: Finey has gone 30 plus with his slip, slop and slap for the purveyors of your Good Vibrations, Wild Honeys and Kokomos.  Boil the kettle, pat the dog and put another shrimp on the barbie - it's showtime!            Kevin Hillier, Mark Fine, Stephen J Peak Follow us on Facebook...https://bit.ly/2OOe7ag Post-production by Steve Visscher | Southern Skies Media for Howdy Partners Media | www.howdypartnersmedia.com.au/podcasts © 2025See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A relic from the formative years of our very own Keenan! What did the then 19 year old chubby cheeked little guy listen to? Spoiler alert, basically the same thing he listens to now. Big surprise. All the more reason to go through it with a fine tooth comb and point out why he's wrong and he should feel shame. Cheers!!
