Call Me Limbo

David & Dai
110 episodes   Last Updated: Apr 18, 25

Call Me Limbo is your weekly dose of comedic therapy where pop culture and politics get tossed in a blender with personal stories, improv games, and zero chill. Hosted by Dai and David—two queer best friends with more opinions than filter—the show tackles everything from reality TV and music videos to capitalist hellscapes and Bad Bunny’s underwear.

It’s entertainment with a little revolution on the side.

Sometimes you’ll laugh until you cry. Sometimes you’ll cry until you’re organizing a union. Either way, we’re here for the drama, the joy, and the work of building a better world—with jokes. Always with jokes.

We believe the personal is political, but also… pop culture is too damn fun to ignore. So whether you’re here for the Disney Channel wand impressions or a fiery takedown of billionaires—welcome. You’ve found your people.

Episodes

This week, Dai and David are joined by Tavish —a queer spirit, human, artist, and educator with Celtic roots. Tavish practices theatre for social change, runs Bird City Improv, and brings decades of experience directing new work, crafting poetry, and co-creating ensemble-driven performance. In March 2025, Tavish went viral after staging a peaceful protest at the Kennedy Center that involved a naked poetry performance denouncing authoritarianism and political violence. The fallout was swift: they were fired from both the Kennedy Center and Johns Hopkins University. But Tavish remains unapologetic—continuing their liberation-focused work through grassroots art and radical truth-telling.This conversation is raw, inspiring, and deeply human—exploring art as activism, queerness as resistance, and what it means to speak your truth, even when it costs you everything.Trump Declares War on Artists | Banned Kennedy Center Protest by Tavish (YouTube)Kennedy Center Contract Employee Strips Nude in Protest Video and Is Promptly Fired (Los Angeles Times)Trump's War on Artists: A Peace Protest (Bird City Improv)The Fierce Urgency of Now: Improvisation, Rights, and the Ethics of Co-Creation (Duke University Press)Emergent Strategy by adrienne maree brownFollow Tavish on Instagram Support the showSign Up for Our SubstackPatreon & Venmo: @CallMeLimboPodInstagram, Twitter, TikTok, Threads, RedNote: @CallMeLimboPodTheme Music by Aidan Ivory Edwards.Logo by Mark Mittelstaedt.

This week, Dai and David raid the Disney vault -- and no, not for the classics.  We're starting with the golden age of Disney Channel Original Movies where the outfits were chaotic, the acting was camp, and the life lessons were just capitalist bootstraps dipped in glitter.  From Smart House to Cheetah Girls, we ask: were we watching teen rebellion...or corporate conditioning with a pop hook and a dance break? Then we level up (or down?) into the world of Disney Feature Films where the budgets got bigger, the gowns got gayer, and the propaganda got much sneakier.  We're talkin' princesses, daddy issues, justice for Cogsworth, and some very suspicious land ownership laws.  We laugh.  We cry.  We side with the villain.  Because in the end... Scar was a labor organizer.Disney raised us, confused us, and low-key radicalized us.  And sometimes it also made us gay.  Thanks, Lee Thompson Young.
