This release was a subscriber/Patreon-exclusive book review, but Mike has now released it for everyone! it showcases the first canon book review in a while and Mike reviews two; Thrawn and Thrawn: Alliances, from Timothy Zahn's first canon Thrawn trilogy! Mike talks about his experience listening to the audiobook for Thrawn in comparison to reading the comic book adaptation (as seen on ep 38 of Star Wars: Comics In Canon), before delving into the "main event"; Thrawn: Alliances. Mike gives his thoughts on the books as well as providing a plot overview for each. TENSIONS RAISE EVEN HIGHER WITH E’RONOH & EIRAM, WHILE AXEL GREYLARK IS IN PRISON! This ep is another High Republic review/overview and it’s the adult novel for Phase 2, Wave 2; Cataclysm by Lydia Kang. In this sequel to Convergence, the tensions between E’ronoh & Eiram worsen as The Path Of The Open Hand become more aggressive, all while Axel Greylark is imprisoned, leading to the devastating Night Of Sorrow! In this episode, Mike gives his spoiler-free thoughts in the beginning, before reading the crawl and giving some minor plot details and thoughts on characters & themes. Cataclysm is written by Lydia Kang, was released April 4th 2023 and takes place in Wave 2 of Phase 2 in The High Republic (approx. 150 years before Phase 1); 382 BBY, and is a sequel to Convergence. THE BLADE OF BARDOTTA’S ORIGIN STORY! For ep 130, Mike delves into the 4-part mini-series surrounding Porter Engle; an Ikkrukkian Jedi who lives throughout the High Republic (around 300 years old during Phase 1). In Phase 1, he is a talented cook with a dark past so in Phase 2, we delve into The Blade’s past and find out about the Barash Vow, while along the way meeting Porter’s sister and seeing more of the Republic during it’s more exploratory age! WHAT DID THE WANDERING RONIN DO BEFORE THE DUEL? For ep 124 (& April Fool’s Day), this episode is technically not “canon” as it takes place in a Star Wars Visions continuity, more specifically, The Duel. This comic is a prequel to The Duel animated episode, which is also linked to the Ronin novel. Mike explores The Ronin’s story, confirms connections along the way and gives his interpretations to the ending. This episode was first released on the feed of Comics In Motion, in April 2023. Star Wars: Visions 1 was released on October 12th 2022 and it was written by Takashi Okazaki, who also did the artwork and the colours. Aki Yanagi did the English translation and the book Ronin was written by Emma Mieko Candon.
