In this episode I traveled to Old Town Alexandria, VA - a beautiful historic town just minutes from Washington DC - and had the honor of speaking with Tom "Big T" Gale - the Director of Operations at one of the biggest bourbon bars and restaurants in the area, Virtue Feed & Grain! Tom is a Kentucky Colonel, Executive Bourbon Steward, king of one-liners, and named one of Alexandria's most interesting men in 2020. I'm so thankful for Tom's hospitality and friendship and can't wait to visit again when I'm in the area!"The historic building that houses Virtue Feed & Grain was once a feed house in the 1800s, bordering historic Wales Alley. A former Alexandria Mayor, Irishman John Fitzgerald, shared ownership of Wales Alley where beer was sold as early as 1786. The alley was named after the brewery owner, Andrew Wales. With re-purposing the building into the restaurant and bar, the name ‘Virtue Feed & Grain’ emerged from the hopeful intentions of those who thoughtfully and virtuously restored and reclaimed a piece of history." For more information:Follow Tom: @bigtbourbon on InstagramFollow the place: @virtuefeedgrainVisit: https://virtuefeedgrain.com/If you enjoyed this episode, I’d really appreciate a follow and share on social media, subscribe to our YouTube, and be sure to give us a rating and review on your favorite podcast platform!Everything you see and hear is out of pocket for us, including travel. In this episode I traveled to Norristown, PA - just outside of Philadelphia - and had the honor of speaking with John George - founder and distiller of Five Saints Distilling! I'm so thankful for John's hospitality and can't wait to visit again when I'm in the Philly area!"Growing up in the Upstate New York countryside provided a childhood of outdoor fun and adventure from nightly football on a neighbor’s farm and swimming with the cows to sledding on Baldy Mountain. John explored on a bike with one pedal (what Freedom!) and spent quality time with his Dad, three uncles and later Giovanni. His first retail sales lesson as a stock boy in a local pharmacy inspired John to become a Registered Pharmacist. In Pharmacy School he spent a day in one of the courses on spirits, manufacturing and proofing. Little did he know back then that he would be putting that experience into practice in the Five Saints Distillery."For more information:Follow @fivesaintsdistilling on InstagramVisit: https://fivesaintsdistilling.com/If you enjoyed this episode, I’d really appreciate a follow and share on social media, subscribe to our YouTube, and be sure to give us a rating and review on your favorite podcast platform!Everything you see and hear is out of pocket for us, including travel.
