Man Vs Mind

Man vs Mind is, spoiler alert, all about what's going on inside a man’s mind. Tim and J are two average guys, one mic each, and zero shame in chatting about everything about men's mental health that they usually keep to themselves. From therapy and fatherhood to anxieties, hang-ups, obsessions, gym guilt and crying at TV ads, it’s real talk without the preach.

No experts, no fixes—just honest, funny, sometimes painfully relatable conversations about the stuff beneath the veil of “yeah, I'm not too bad thanks.”

We're trying to normalise guys talking about their mental health, and if what we're doing helps just one other man feel like they're able to just... I dunno... chat about what's going on in their head, then that's mission accomplished as far as we're concerned.

We hope you'll enjoy the ride as we deep dive inside the mind of the average guy.

Disclaimer: neither of us are mental health professionals, we don't dispense psychological advice, just anecdotes and perhaps a bit of taboo-busting as we chat about the things that don't normally get said.

Episodes

The first of a four-part mini-series. Let’s take a look in the mirror. After taking The First Step in Episode 1 and learning to open up in Man vs Talking (Episode 2), this week we kick off a brand new four-part mini-series on something a lot of us quietly battle with: body image. In Part 1, we’re looking inward — the stuff we carry about how we see ourselves. From childhood bullying and emotional eating, to gym floor anxiety and the pressures we put on ourselves just to feel “okay” in our own skin. There’s also talk of therapy (specifically EMDR), weight as a trigger, and the surprisingly emotional journey that is trying (and failing) not to eat your father-in-law’s ice cream. Also, Tim gets tangled up in lycra, has an epiphany mid-warmup, and a very awkward towel-based Instagram locker room encounter with a topless influencer sparks a surprising realisation.Get in touch! We're not giving advice – we're just telling you how we feel about something that is a hugely difficult subject for so many people. We've tried our best to tackle this with grace, tact and respect – and we hope that comes across in this episode.Cheers, Tim & J x Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
With Tim and J chatting about body image in Episodes 1 and 2, we figured it deserved a deep dive. So here's what's coming up when the guys take on Man vs Body Image, with the first part coming on Wednesday.Get in touch! Man vs Talking
Why is it easier to slap your mate on a stag do than tell him you’re struggling? In this episode of Man vs Mind, Tim and J get into the weird world of male vulnerability—from awkward networking events and silent commutes to the emotional gymnastics of saying “Yeah not too bad.”There’s chat about shame, office euphemisms, and why asking for help feels harder than public speaking.Get in touch with us! In this episode of Man vs Mind, Tim and J get stuck into the messy, honest stuff around male mental health—anxiety, therapy, ADHD, body image, emotional eating, and why it’s so hard for blokes to just say, “I’m struggling.”They talk about starting new jobs, navigating fatherhood, dyslexia, medication, and why silence can sometimes say more than words. Oh—and J casually drops the time he found himself at gunpoint in India during a breakdown. Because, of course he did. It’s part confessional, part group chat energy, and part “wait, why does no one talk about this?” If you’ve ever felt like you’re the only one trying to hold it together, this one’s for you.If you feel like a bit of support would help, please check out and consider supporting the wonderful work they do at CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).
