=== On the surface, he's got nothing on you. He's no taller, better looking or wealthy. But for some reason even women wistfully muse how 'there's just something about that guy'. They can almost never describe it, but there's this unmistakable aura surrounding him, and they LOVE him and WANT him for it. Well, in this brief episode I'll explain just what's going on there. The best news of all is you don't have to have won the 'genetic lottery', and you absolutely do not have to be some sort of arrogant d-bag to make woman feel this way. In fact, because it's yet another instance of it being all about mindset and learned skill, YOU can become 'There's Just Something About That Guy' in the eyes of adoring women in the workplace, in your social circle and/or wherever else you hang out. Co-Host Ayush Prakash (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/ayush) The 'generation gap' is nothing new. Boomers complained about how 'square' their parents were, and then Gen X complained about how lame their parents' music was. But with Gen Z it's a bit different. This generation is the first to grow up 'neuro-plastically connected to technology'. Those are the words of my first time guest Ayush Prakash, author of the new book called AI for Gen Z. So how exactly has the Internet Age shaped young adults? What's more, how will AI do that from now on? Ayush is actually a Gen Z'er, so he knows what he's talking about. He starts by talking about the '3 Rs' that will affect all of us going forward, but especially the youngest generation coming up. How do technology companies and their prioritization of profit really affect all of us in unexpected ways, particularly as men? What specifically has happened in just the last five short years to rob the human race of its humanity, let alone your masculinity? How is AI tricking us into accepting the computer as an authoritarian power (yes, really), and dragging us down to a less-human level of existence with it? Are you cheating on your partner if you get an AI girlfriend programmed to give you what you're missing from your IRL relationship? Is there really any correlation between intelligent learning models as we know them and the possibility of a 'Skynet'-like AGI? What does it even mean to be human--and masculine--a quarter of the way through the 21st century? And if we've lost something there already, how to we get it back? === SNIPPETS FROM THE SUMMIT === Almost every one of us as men gets sweaty palms when we see an attractive woman and want to go talk to her. No matter how much courage we may have in other areas of our life, the fear really tends to grip us in that situation, doesn't it? Well, what do all of us have in common that drives that fear? And what's more, what does EVERY man who has ever OVERCOME that fear have in common? The answer is disarmingly simple, and its revealed in this brief episode. Could it be the answer that cures your case of approach anxiety forever? Co-Host Tom LaGrave (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/honor) My first time guest Tom LaGrave is a retired Navy SEAL, clinical therapist and founder of The Honor Bound Academy, an upcoming learning domain to give adolescents the proper rite of passage into adulthood. In a post-modern world where it seems like everyone is in it for themselves and the end justifies the means, Tom is all about reminding us that honor and character still matter. In fact, the man who focuses accordingly is actually likely to be the one who gets ahead. How is present-day America affecting the mental health of our young people? What's the difference between young people growing up in the 70's and our youth nowadays? And what should a modern-day rite of passage even look like for young men? Did the rise of Secular Humanism really result in the downfall of honor and character? What's Tom's specific warning with the rise of what he calls 'social warfare'? Even though honor and character are related, they're not synonymous. How does Tom describe that link between the two? What is the driving factor for honor and character that almost everyone overlooks? How has the smartphone era specifically mounted an assault against honor and character? Will AI further augment our reality with regard to values, integrity and even our behavior patterns? And of course, how does a strong sense of honor and good character really, truly affect our relationships with women? Hint: It has everything to do with having a valid rite of passage. Most importantly of all, what do we as men stand to lose when we don't fine-tune our sense of honor and our character...whether we realize it or not? === SNIPPETS FROM THE SUMMIT === A lot of us as men have been discouraged from approaching, meeting and talking to women. That's rough enough in and of itself. But what's especially insidious is that this disastrous mindset often comes from the very pickup artist advice that was supposed to help, not make things worse. Well, what's ironically good news here is it's all based on a lie. So if we find ourselves stuck because we think all women are out to 'reject' us, not only is that simply not the case, but the kind of chick who we picture doing that is actually more of a unicorn than a typical woman. Co-Host Zach Schleien (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/spark) My returning guest Zach Schleien has founded dating companies and now serves as the General Manager of Matchmaking for Spark Networks. Over the course of his career, he's learned a thing or two about what attracts men and women to each other. So what are the mindsets, trigger and attitudes that make attraction happen at the primal, psychological level? Well, obviously physical attraction matters (hence Zach's commitment to video dating), but how that works differs between men and women. It has been said that none of us should expect to 'punch above our weight' in the looks department, but we see exceptions around us all the time. What is that attributable to? Is it true that if a guy has a great job or lots of money it'll cover over 'a multitude of sins' in the looks department? What do women find attractive that's in relatively short supply among men here in the post-modern era? Was David DeAngelo right when he famously said, 'attraction is not a choice'? What is the general rule that governs what the media tells us is 'attractive'? What happens to our sense of attraction as we cross cultures and travel to different countries? Are all pretty women attractive? What about women who know they're beautiful, and seem to think they can get by on their looks alone? How do dating apps mess up our entire mindset about attraction? And on that note, are we really attracted to women we think we're attracted to, or are our minds playing tricks on us (again)? And if we really don't have our type figured out yet, what's the disarmingly obvious solution to solving the puzzle? === SNIPPETS FROM THE SUMMIT === Women go around constantly worried about being 'slut shamed'. I mean, it's one thing to be genuinely slutty. But too many of us as men shame women simply for being sexual creatures. It should go without saying that's counterproductive if we're trying to have a thriving sex life. But it's not like we as men are the only ones going around shaming MOTOS (members of the other sex). As it turns out, women have their own equivalent of 'slut shaming' that they go around weaponizing against us as men. And sure enough, most of us will go out of our way to not be accused of it. Well, as soon as I utter the simple phrase in this show, you'll cringe. But rest assured, just like there's a simple solution for avoiding slut shaming women, there's an equally simple solution for not BEING shamed by man-hating women out there. Co-Host Emily McKay (https://www.deservewhatyouwant.com) Maybe Emily and I waited almost 20 years to cover this subject because it's a touchy one that hits just a little too close to home for both of us. But hey, it's an important one. How do you deal with your ex...especially if you're now in a new relationship? Check it out, there are at least three categories of ex that could still theoretically be haunting your life after a breakup or divorce. And you'd better believe we'll be covering how to handle the necessarily interactions with each type. But what if your new relationship is being negatively impacted by pesky exes? Or what if your new flame is weirdly jealous of your old one? How do you handle the infamous 'child exchanges' mandated by custody agreements? What if an ex (predictably) tries to drive a wedge between you and your new partner? What if your ex is desperately trying to get you back? Or what if one of you isn't quite over the last relationship? On the other hand, what if you've made a significant upgrade over your ex and they're super upset and catty about your new 'trophy'? And in that case, isn't it weird how we start sort of rooting for our ex to find someone new--and who they like even better--themselves? And on that note, can we actually be friends with our ex, even when we're in a new relationship? Should you delete their numbers from your phone, or not? What if you're in a 'rebound relationship', and it's looking like your new partner might end up back with their old one? Hey...it happens a lot. On the other hand, what if they're toxic and just won't leave well enough alone? And wait a minute, was that a 'Rubberband Man' reference, out of the blue? === SNIPPETS FROM THE SUMMIT === It's SFTS 69, dude. Back when you were a kid, when you mouthed off in class your teacher probably told you that 'you have two ears and one mouth for a reason'. Well, here it is: I flatly believe physiological design is irrelevant. I'm here to convince you that TALKING is at least as valid a way to learn as listening is. And yes, I can prove it. Want to make better decisions socially and professionally? Want to make sure you don't blow your chances with the woman you're attracted to? Open your mouth and TALK about it...whether that's with yourself or with someone you trust. This goes WAY beyond mirror affirmations. It straight-up WORKS, and I'll explain why. Co-Host Raj Khedun (https://mountaintoppodcast.com/raj) My first time guest Raj Khedun is one of the few and the proud who has turned his philosophy degree into a viable living. He's done that by helping men harness the power of their breathing. Now, before you dismiss this as yet another attempt to get guys to do yoga, hear Raj out. You see, too many of us as men let ourselves get all worked up over the little things in life--and can't seem to find our 'off' switch for the stress we compile--when our masculine edge is found in those moments we keep our cool even when the chips are down for real. So just to get it out of the way, Raj isn't gonna make you wear spandex and do lotus poses, dude. What he is all about, however, is introducing what he calls his 3:3 Metaverse Method to get your breathing to work for you instead of against you. As you know, I don't do a whole lot of shows on this sort of thing. But Raj is indeed on to something. We do his exercise live on the show, and although it made for a weird couple minutes of audio, I can vouch for its immediate impact. According to Raj, controlling our breathing can obviate the need for some of the meds we take, help insomnia, and yes...improve our interactions with women. How? Well, for starters it enables that elusive 'flow state' that men's dating advice has sought after dating back to the PUA era. The breathing exercise could also theoretically help you get in state before approaching women at the grocery store, or even when a woman comes over your place for the first time. Remember also, that your state affects that of the woman you love and even your kids. The possibilities are only limited by the number of instances you want to gain control over your thoughts and emotions.
